Fulton County plant looking to expand, hire more

A steel processing plant in Delta is hoping to move forward with a $19.5 million expansion.

DELTA, OH (Toledo News Now) - Asteel processing plant in Delta is hoping to move forward with a $19.5 millionexpansion.

Leadersat Fulton County Processing off State Route 109 say business is up, so they'relooking to expand their facilities and add more employees.

"We'relooking to expand to take care of the customers we have and to take on morework," said Plant Manager Jeff Kunkel.

Ifstate funding is approved, the company will move forward with a project to addmore than 80,000 square feet to their facility, and hire at least 14 peopleover the next few years.

Sofar, they have the support of the county commissioners and Fulton CountyEconomic Development Director Lisa Arend.

"It'simportant for them to stay here," Arend said. "We can't grow the economywithout the local businesses that we already have. We need to support them inany way we can."

Shesays the fact that the company is looking to expand says a lot about thecounty.

"FultonCounty Processing is here because Fulton County provides a good workforce," shesaid. "Our employees here have a good work ethic. They'll show up to work, theywork hard. It also shows we are a business-friendly community."

Thecompany is hoping to find out if $360,000 in state funding is approved by theend of August. The rest of the expansion will be privately funded.
