9 car break-ins at BG park

Bowling Green Police need help finding the person responsible for nine car break-ins at Carter Park.

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - BowlingGreen Police need help finding the person responsible for nine car break-ins atCarter Park.

Whilepeople were watching baseball at the park, police say a thief was breaking intotheir cars, stealing everything in sight, including purses, electronics andeven clothing. Some vehicles were left unlocked, but the thief smashed windowsto get inside others.

Policesay this crime is unusual because it happened during daylight hours, at acrowded park.

"Therewas some level of risk for the person to do this at the time of day that itwas, as well as the amount of people that were around," said Major TonyHetrick, deputy chief of the Bowling Green Police Department. "But they wantedto perpetuate this crime, and they did so pretty much right under the noses ofeverybody that was out there."

Policesay the best way to keep belongings safe is to leave them in the trunk or keepthem with you at all times.
