A 22-year-old gang member sentenced to life in prison for a deadly shooting.

On Wednesday, Judge Tom Teodosio sentenced Corey Hardison to life in prison for the murder of Karma Tamang. Hardison will be eligible for parole in 2031.

Early on the morning of July 21, 2012, Hardison was told to shoot and kill someone in order to increase his rank in his gang. He found 35-year-old Karma Tamang, a recent immigrant from Bhutan, sitting in his car on Blaine Avenue. Hardison shot Tamang, then ran off. He put his gun and T-shirt into a backpack, which he threw into the backyard of a house on Alberti Court.

The next day, Hardison and a fellow gang member stole a flat-screen TV from a home on Robinette Court.

On June 14, Hardison pleaded guilty to murder, participation in a criminal gang and burglary.
