Asbestos abatement begins at Lime City School

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Anold elementary school that has been vacant for more than 20 years is finallygetting demolished, and neighbors already have ideas about what they'd like tosee in its place.

Crewsjust started working on asbestos abatement at the old Lime City School thisweek. It should be finished in early August. Demolition of the building onRoute 20 and Lime City Road should begin in early September.

PerrysburgTownship purchased the 5-acre property for $110,000 last year. No plans havebeen set for what will happen after demolition, but people who live nearby havea few ideas.

"Somesort of a park, where you could walk or maybe ride a bike around, or somethinglike that," suggested William Tinney, who has lived in the area for 73 years.

Townshipofficials will continue to discuss what the property could become.
