Wauseon residents rallying for city pool

WAUSEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Community members recently met with Wauseon's city council to discuss the possibility of a new city swimming pool.

The city used to have a pool at Reighard Park, but it closed a few years ago. Since then, it's been missed. So a non-profit organization called New Pool 4 Wauseon was formed.

The organization proposed a plan to build a pool at Biddle Park, and they have been taking donations, hoping to eventually have an upgraded version of the pool Wauseon used to have.

"It was always packed," said resident Sheila Roberts. "Parents could come and drop their kids off at a certain age, and adults used it, too."

The new pool group wants to see it built at Biddle Park, but another option being considered is to build at Reighard, where the old pool used to be. Either way, people like Roberts think it would bring a lot to the community.

"I definitely support the pool coming in, and I would do whatever I could to help with that," she said. "It benefits the kids, gives them somewhere to go."
