Woman who stole $110,000 from youth organizations sentenced to prison

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Perrysburg woman who admitted to stealing more than $100,000 from youth organizations will spend more than three years in prison for her crimes.

Kiki Lorann was sentenced to serve 39 months in prison on Tuesday in Wood County Common Please Court. Lorann must also pay back the $110,000 she took from six Perrysburg youth baseball leagues and two parent teacher organizations. Her son was even a member of one of the baseball teams.

Prosecutors say Lorann used at least some of the stolen money to pay back restitution from a court settlement in Fulton County. Now she'll have to make monthly payments paying back this new amount once her prison time has been served.

However, the prosecution does not believe Lorann can afford to repay the people from whom she stole.

"The likelihood that the defendant will be able to repay even 10 cents on the dollar is minimal," said assistant Wood County prosecuting attorney, Thomas Matuszak.

In court, a tearful Lorann read this apology:

"I intend to pay back every cent due to the victims, and vow to live a good, hardworking life and never do anything dishonest again."

Lorann will spend the next five years on community control or probation. If she violates those terms, she will serve an additional five years in prison.

Lorann was a volunteer with the Perrysburg Elementary Parents Association, Toth Parent Club, Perrysburg String Baseball, and several other sports teams. She handled the finances for the organizations. Last May, other members took a closer look at their accounts and realized the numbers did not add up. That is when they went to police.
