Council asked to withdraw liquor permit objection for bar reopening

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A measure before Toledo City Council calls for the city to withdraw its objection with the State of Ohio for the renewal of a liquor permit, so that permit can be transferred for the reopening of Mulvaney's Bunker, a popular bar and grill located on Dorr Street.

The permit in question is from the O-Five's Bar and Grill, a former trouble spot nightclub which was located on Starr Avenue until it closed early this year. By withdrawing that objection, it would allow for a clean permit to be transferred.

Nino Perna, who is the operating manager for the new ownership group, says 50 employees are waiting to work should the permit be allowed to be renewed and ‘the Bunker' reopens.

"We're doing a little more work in the kitchen, getting refrigeration in line. Furniture is in. Starting to book entertainment this week and next, hopefully we're going to have a great grand opening," Perna said.

Council is expected to vote on the permit measure on Tuesday. A VIP reopening event could happen as early as next week.
