Secor Road construction wrapping up early

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Mayor Mike Bell provided an update of the Secor Road reconstruction project Friday morning. This short-term pain for drivers will result in a long-term gain for better road conditions.

Bell was joined by staff from the city's Division of Engineering Services, along with representatives of Secor Road businesses, to discuss the remaining steps for the project and the anticipated early completion date. The project is wrapping up two months ahead of schedule. One of the final steps left is pouring the final layer of asphalt on Secor from Central Avenue all the way to Monroe Street.

The intersection of Secor and Central has been under construction, as crews rebuilt the road from the ground up. Traffic has been restricted to right turns only and semis and busses have been detoured away from the intersection.

Area business owners are glad to hear the end is near.

"It's going to help us a lot, definitely. The road is much better. The project manager did a great job keeping us up to date on what's going on," said Krishna Mallya.

If all goes according to plan, the Secor project will finish in mid-August. The original timeline had the project ending in early November.
