Wood Co. Humane Society dealing with overcrowding

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

TheWood County Humane Society is overcrowded, so they're calling on county residentsfor help.

Everykennel is full at the shelter, where 130 animals are currently waiting for newhomes.

Countyresidents will be getting phone calls throughout the week, asking to purchasevarious items. A portion of the proceeds will help to take care of the animalsand support shelter operations.

Inaddition, this month the shelter is running an adoption special: two kittensfor the price of one. Employees say they always have more cats than dogs.

"Wehave about 60 kittens because it's that time of year," said Cassie Williams, ananimal care worker at the shelter. "Our kennels in the back are full. We have14 dogs right now and cats in foster care, so there's a lot of needy animals inthis county."

Theshelter is also in need of dedicated volunteers, and they're looking to hiresomeone to help publicize events and animals waiting for homes. For moreinformation, visit theirwebsite here.
