Graytown woman still enjoying competition at 81

(Toledo News Now) -

Most people don't spend their golden years chasing gold medals but that's exactly what this young lady is all about.

81-year-old Dorothy Gackstetter is not the type of person to sit still and talk about old memories, instead, she's all about making new ones.

Gackstetter gives new meaning to the term, "Living the golden years."

"I've always been a winner. I've got oodles of gold medals," said Ms. Gackstetter.

More medals than she can count, more trophies than she knows what to do with. The Graytown resident has been a fixture at Senior Olympic competitions across the state for over 30 years.

"It keeps me involved and I enjoy the competition," she added.

Dorothy's success formula isn't all that complicated. She sets her sights on the prize and goes after it.

She's now training for the National Senior Games later this month near Cleveland.

"You got to set a goal. I haven't reached mine yet," said Ms. Gackstetter.
