MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - Police need help identifying the person who hit a cyclist and took off Tuesday afternoon in downtown Maumee.

According to police, the hit and run happened at the intersection of Conant and Dudley streets. They say Thomas "Sully" Sullivan was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk of the intersection when he was hit by a car, described as a dark gray Toyota.

The driver took off. Sullivan, 57, was left with serious injuries.

"We believe that vehicle was driven by a white male, described as [having] facial hair," said Lt. Jeff Siebenaler, of the Maumee Police. "We don't have a sense of what age he may be."

Lt. Siebenaler says there could be damage to the front driver side of the vehicle. He's hoping the public knows something.

"We think that there's someone in the public out there that may know an individual like that, with this type of vehicle, and may have some information to offer us."

Sullivan, a manager at the Village Idiot, was taken to the hospital and has since been released, but his co-workers say he is now in physical therapy and has a long road ahead of him.

Anyone with information on the hit and run is asked to contact the Maule Police Department at 419-897-7030.
