Considerable damage in Tiffin due to fallen trees

TIFFIN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

It's a good thing students at Heidelberg University in Tiffin weren't walking outside Founder's Hall during Wednesday's storm. Several tree limbs fell in the area, but that wasn't the worst of the damage.

Large trees came down at Oakley Park. A fence was smashed, and bleachers took a hit. Elsewhere, cars were smashed by fallen trees.

"Hopefully no one got hurt with this storm that went through," said Jill Gooding. "Good thing there were no games on the field today."

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz says the city had plans to make $170,000 in improvements to the park, but the work was behind schedule. It turns out that was a blessing in disguise.

City leaders ask residents to stay away from downed trees, which could be dangerous.
