MELBERN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Straight line winds ripped a train off of its tracks in Williams County Wednesday. The train derailment in Williams County could now have an effect on East/West Amtrak Service.

The derailment happened near Melbern, OH, about three miles west of Bryan. The train has derailed on the Norfolk Southern railroad mainline, which carries freight and Amtrak passenger service from Chicago to points east…and from the east west to Chicago.

There were 31 containers reported to be on the ground.

There are two trains scheduled to be headed east through the derailment area around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari in Chicago will know within the hour whether the train scheduled into Toledo early tomorrow will be delayed or canceled.

No injuries have been reported, but first responders are still going through the area.

There are also multiple reports of trees down in the area.
