ESTRAL BEACH, MI (Toledo News Now) -

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a body found in Lake Erie near Estral Beach over the weekend is that of a missing boater.

The Sheriff's Office identified the man as 36-year-old James Paul VanDosen of Waterford, MI early Monday evening.

The Sheriff's office says a woman called 911 around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday to report that her 8-year-old son and her boyfriend, VanDosen, were in the water off of Estral Beach.  A nearby boater was able to pull the boy from the water but the VanDoes was having trouble swimming and eventually went missing, the Sheriff's office said.

On Saturday afternoon someone called 911 to report a body near the shoreline near Lakeshore Dr. in Estral Beach.  The Monroe County Sheriff's Office located the body about 50 yards off shore, and later identified it as VanDosen.
