Donations still needed to complete local September 11 memorial

FULTON COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Apiece of the World Trade Center has a new home in northwest Ohio. It was weldedinto place at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on Friday.

ASeptember 11 memorial will soon be built at the fairgrounds. The memorial willinclude a walkway, roof, and plaques with a timeline and names of those wholost their lives that day. But the community is still working to raise enoughmoney to build it.

"We'vegot it designed, so we can build it in stages," said Wauseon Fire Chief RickSluder.

Constructionon the first phases will begin soon, but to make sure there's money for all ofit, the president of the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, Tim Sepesy, is organizinga fundraiser called "Wings over Wauseon."

"We'regoing to have wings and beer and motorcycles and music," Sepesy said.

Thefundraiser is planned for the weekend of July 19, and Sepesy hopes it willinspire more donations.

"Nowthat they can physically see the memorial behind me, I think it will jog theirmemory and have them swell up with that passion and those emotions," he said.
