North Toledo vacant home demolished after house fire

Early Friday morning, crews battled a fire that engulfed a house in north Toledo, then spread to a neighboring home.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Early Friday morning, crews battled a fire that engulfed a house in north Toledo, then spread to a neighboring home.

The house is located in the 3000 block of North Erie, off New York Avenue, near Summit Street.

The vacant house caught fire around 3:30 a.m. The fire then spread to a neighboring house, which is occupied.

Firefighters were told to not go inside the house to battle the blaze. After about two hours, the fire was under control.

The vacant house has been demolished.

The neighbor, whose house also suffered damage from the fire, says this same house caught fire two and a half years ago.

Arson investigators were called to the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but officials say the fire is suspicious.

No one was injured. The American Red Cross assisted.
