Voters to decide on Rossford school renovations

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two Rossford schools could see some major renovations in the near future, but it all depends on the voters.

Public surveys were passed out for several months in Rossford, asking community members about possibly renovating Rossford's Eagle Point and Indian Hills elementary schools.  Now, school leaders have decided to put a measure on the November ballot for voters to determine if they want to pay for proposed renovations.

Rebuilding the schools could cost taxpayers $35 million, but some parents think the updates are needed.

"I'm very excited because the school is an older building, so I think it's going to be a great new change for them," said Sonia Rodriguez, a Rossford parent.

One of the big things that Rossford students are looking forward to in the possible new buildings is air conditioning.

"It's usually pretty hot in there because it's not much air conditioning," said student Jacob Perry. "Some of the spots are kinda coming apart and everything is just getting old."

The second phase of construction on the new buildings would be renovating the historical parts of the old schools.

"The school that [my son] goes to now is an older building," Rodriguez said. "I can't wait to hear the new additions they build so that everything is up to code, and the new technology that they're going to have."

It has not been determined yet how much the levy on the ballot would be for.
