Ohio lawmakers have approved a new 2-year budget plan, which earmarks more money for education, compared to the current budget cycle.

The new budget will pump more than $700 million in additional funding for K-12 education in Ohio.

According to state aid estimates, every school district in Lucas County, with the exception of Toledo Public Schools, is projected to receive a 6.25 percent increase during the upcoming year, and a 10.5 increase the following year. For TPS, the increases are projected at 6.25 percent, and then only 4.4 percent.

The treasurer for Washington Local Schools says it's too early to tell if these increases will offset funding decreases from the state over the previous two years.

In Wood County, five districts are scheduled to get the maximum increases, including Bowling Green, Lake, Northwood, Perrysburg and Rossford.
