A snafu with a pre-sentence report has caused a delay in the sentencing for a career criminal convicted of shooting a dog chained to a tree.

Sentencing was to be Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Cleveland Federal Court for Raymone Clements. He was found guilty of being in possession of ammunition and a firearm because he is a felon.

Clements shot the dog, a bull mastiff named Forrest, as the dog was chained to a tree in Forest Hill Park in Cleveland Heights last November.

Forrest has since recovered, and has been adopted by a loving family. He lives in a ranch style home on 10 acres of land.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Clements' sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal records.

Sentencing has been rescheduled for July 8.

Toledo has a long and storied history of hockey in the city going back to the first team, the Toledo Mercurys, who played their first season in 1947-48. Other iterations included the Blades, the Hornets, the Goaldiggers and the Storm. For a short time, in 1949-50, the team was actually called the Toledo Buckeyes.
