CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Christie McFarlin's son James was born on June 7, only hours after she found out she was pregnant.

"They said, 'well, you test positive' and I said, 'positive for what?' And he said I was going to have a baby," McFarlin said. "I was like 'what?' They brought that ultrasound in and were showing me that I was pregnant. I was shocked.”

McFarlin says she had tried to have children in the past, but by age 40, she had given up hope.

“I was always trying to get pregnant," McFarlin said. "So, I just figured if I can’t get pregnant, then I’ll just forget about it and that’s what I did. I forgot about it and then on the 7th I had the baby. I didn’t know.”

McFarlin and her husband went to the hospital because she was feeling pain in her stomach.

"I kept feeling movement in my stomach every once in a while but I thought it was gas, you know, from the gall bladder and I had no idea," McFarlin said. "I mean, it was just crazy.”

Little James was born at three pounds, one ounce. McFarlin says because he was premature, the baby has health concerns.

"It comes and goes," McFarlin said. "He has his days but yeah, he's still got a lot of problems."

While most mothers have 9 months to prepare, McFarlin says she has next to nothing for the new addition to the family.

"I ain't prepared at all," McFarlin said. "I don't have hardly anything yet. I have a little bit of clothes that people have given me through all this but, it's just, I need everything."

McFarlin says if her son's health gets worse, he could be moved to a St. Louis hospital. She also says doctors estimate that he will remain in the hospital for about six months.

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
