TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Antwaine Jones and Keshawn Jennings appeared in court for their second day of trial Wednesday. The men are accused of murdering 1-year-old Keondra Hooks in her Toledo apartment at Moody Manor last summer. The shooting also injured her 2-year-old sister, Leondra.

The jury visited the crime scene Tuesday, which was the first day of the trial. Once they returned from the apartment complex, opening statements began.

However, defense attorneys are questioning the plea deal of prosecution witness James Moore. They believe he may be lying in order to reduce his sentence to three years in prison. If convicted, Jones and Jennings could face life in prison.

It was a very emotional day for Keondra's family. Her great-grandmother and aunt were questioned about the night of the shooting.

Naomi Reed is the great-grandmother and was in the apartment when bullets came flying through the glass door. Reed recalled the details of that night and how the girls were given snacks before bed, and watched TV together.

She then talked about the shooting. Reed said when she saw Keondra had been shot, she scooped up her little body and explained what happened next.

"She gone. She gone. And the neighbor took her out of my arms. She said, 'No. Let's go to the hospital.' They did everything they could, but she never woke up. She never ever woke up again," said Reed.

Aunt Tamatha Pride was very emotional on the stand, trembling at times, trying to explain what happened through tears. She said when gun shots were fired glass flew everywhere, and gun powder and smoke filled the air. Pride said all the commotion woke Keondra.

"She had sat up when the glass broke, and somebody done shot her in the head. And they shot her in the head. She fell over," said Pride.

The trial will continue Thursday.
