ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Good news for Rossford residents that rely on TARTA services: The city council voted to keep the bus services at their Monday night meeting.

The City of Rossford has partnered with TARTA since 1970. After hiring a consultant to conduct a study, the city found out they were receiving a greater benefit than what they were paying for.

TARTA services cost the city about $300,000, but TARTA then kicks back $100,000 into their 2.25 mill TARTA tax.

Members of council questioned how often the bus services were utilized in the city, but Mayor Neil MacKinnon says the services help market the city.

"In regards to state and federal grants for road repairs, you get extra consideration for being a part of public transportation," MacKinnon said.

A new contract has not been signed with TARTA, but the mayor wants to ensure that all three routes will remain functioning.
