TIFFIN, OH (Toledo News Now) - The owner of a smoke shop in Tiffin was arrested Thursday on charges of selling synthetic marijuana out of his store.
Synthetic marijuana has been banned in Ohio for years, but law enforcement agencies are still finding it being sold in stores under the counter, which is why the Seneca County Drug Task Force raided the smoke shop earlier this year.
Shawn Stagnolia was indicted on five felony charges.
"The abuse of this K-2, or spice incense, is not only a problem for the City of Tiffin, but it is throughout Seneca County, and it's also throughout the entire state," said Det. Charles Boyer of the Drug Task Force.
Boyer says cooperating between the task force and the Attorney General's office have allowed them to stay on top of the K-2 problem in the county.
"Without the Task Force, we wouldn't have the means, nor the resources, to be able to work with other state law enforcement agencies to be able to pursue these types of investigations," he said.
Stagnolia was charged with possession of untaxed tobacco products and failure to file a withholding return. His shop remains open.
