TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Studies show Americans eat 350 slices of pizza per second, but what's the condition of the kitchen where your favorite pie is prepared? A couple Toledo eateries are piling on the violations in this week's Restaurant Ratings Report.

Happy's Pizza on South Reynolds Road was not so happy after the inspection by county health inspectors. Six violations were found, including a broken hot water knob on a sink and a dessert display case holding cheesecake at an unsafe temperature. Additionally, heavy ice build-up in a walk-in freezer had so much ice, it was falling onto boxes of food.

Little Caesar's Pizza on West Alexis Road is facing seven violations. Inspectors discovered broken lids on pepperoni and cheese containers, a missing handle on the pizza warmer, clean items stored on a rusty, dirty board near the sink, plus several damaged ceiling tiles.

Happy Hour on Eleanor Avenue was hit with eight violations in its latest inspection. Hot dogs, taco meat and cheese were all found without an expiration date, and a broken thermometer was being used, running the risk of unsafe food temperatures. Other violations included a broken ice scoop used to serve cold drinks, a leaky kitchen faucet, as well as a sink filled with cans, preventing employees full access to wash their hands.

A freezer floor at Frisch's Big Boy on Secor Road needs to be repaired since it's starting to come up. Inspectors also found a lot of build-up in the ice machine, with cooked onions found stored beneath raw sausage patties in a cooler, providing the chance for cross-contamination.

What about the restaurants without violations? A fast food favorite on Byrne Road, Burger King is checking in with a clean inspection, along with Doc Watson's just up the street.
