BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (Toledo News Now) -

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Bedford Township, which injured two women after their SUV rolled several times.

Preliminary investigation shows that Gabrielle Leake, 25, of Toledo, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer northbound on Crabb Road and for unknown reasons, traveled off the east side of the roadway, striking a traffic sign and driveway culvert. Upon impact with the culvert, the SUV became airborne and overturned several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Leake and her front seat passenger, Paige Krieger, 22, of Toledo, both suffered serious injuries and were transported to a Toledo hospital. Leake was listed in stable condition, while Krieger was listed in critical condition.

Authorities say Leake, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. They say Krieger, who was wearing a seatbelt, remained inside the vehicle during the crash. Both airbags on the vehicle deployed during the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with more information is urged to call the sheriff's office at 734-240-7551.
