FULTON COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Three businesses have been issued citations who were reportedly selling alcohol to minors.

These compliance checks are run through the Ohio Investigative Unit. A total of 11 Fulton County businesses were checked for illegal liquor sales.

They send a trained informant who is under the age of 21 into local businesses to try and buy alcohol. If a sale is made the businesses is issued a citation. The employee making that sale is charged as well.

"It's just crucial that you check the IDs. We're trying to do everything in our power to keep underage kids from being able to obtain alcohol and they're just another tool in that fight" said chief of Wauseon police Keith Torbet.

The Wauseon police department hosts training sessions about safe alcohol sales. They're free and designed for clerks or festival workers.

If interested in attending, call the Wauseon police department at (419) 335-3821
