Facebook posts from more than a year ago caused controversy at a west Toledo business Tuesday night. While a community group won't stand for the derogatory comments made, the business owners feel the group's outrage has crossed the line.  The posts from Twin Oak Lanes owner Jeff Kuhnle that were made in 2016 and 2017 are now haunting him. The posts use derogatory and racially insensitive comments about Muslims.  "First of all as a Muslim woman living in America ...

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo area has experienced a slew of stranger danger incidents – men or women approach children to possibly attempt to abduct them. Now Toledo Police are using an annual program to help teach children how to stay safe.

Parents worry when their child heads off to school for the first time. The TPD runs a program each year for children going into Kindergarten. The 8-day program is called "Safe T-City," and it aims to keep kids safe in a number of ways.

On Thursday, the children learned how to cross the street safely, but they also learned about stranger danger. They learned what a stranger is, and how to respond if they are approached by one.

"What we try to have them do is become assertive, and yell, you know, ‘No, you're not my mom! No, you're not my dad!'" said Abe Cruz, of the Toledo Police Department. "And just cause commotion, you know, cause a scene, so that other people that are around know that you may be in trouble."

Sessions are 8:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. and Noon-2:30 p.m. They will be held June 24-July 3, July 8-July 17, and July 22-July 31.
