Vacant house completely destroyed on Bancroft

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An abandoned house is completely destroyed after a large fire ripped through the home.

This happened on the corner of Bancroft and Warren just after 1:00 which closed Bancroft for a couple of hours.

Toledo Fire Department said they arrived to the scene one minute after the initial call and noted heavy flames showing on arrival. The fire appears to have started on the second floor which sent flames shooting though the roof of the structure which ultimately collapsed shortly thereafter.

No one was in the house at the time and there were no reported injuries.

A passerby noticed the large flames spreading closely to other houses and got out to see if anyone was trapped. She went to the house next door and heard voices.  She started banging on the door and, after some time, someone answered. The woman notice there were a total of four children inside the house and quickly worked to get them all to safety.

The fire department is unsure what caused the fire but they are calling it suspicious.
