Strawberry grower having a bumper year

(Toledo News Now) -

It looks like it's going to be a good year for America's third favorite fruit.

Produce stands like Creque's on Sylvania Avenue are just starting to sell strawberries.

Strawberries there just went on sale in the past few days.

The price at Creque's is the same as it was last year, three dollars and seventy five cents a quart.

The strawberries this year should be much sweeter though because of perfect growing conditions.

"Strawberries like cooler weather. Right now it's perfect. We could use a little rain, but we've been irrigating. It looks like a good crop," said Jeff Creque of Creque Strawberry Farm.

Jeff says he will sell out of strawberries in about 3 weeks.

By the way, apples and bananas are the top selling produce in North America.
