Thousands of pain pills stolen from Onsted, MI pharmacy

Lenawee County officials are on high alert after a string of pharmacy break-ins.

Investigators say the suspects are prying their way into local pharmacies and stealing painkillers.

The most recent break-in happened at the Medicine Shoppe in Onsted, MI.

Officials say the suspects cut the phone line to the building and the buildings near it, then went inside and took more than 3,000 pills.

The back door was pryed open.

The pills sell for about five dollars apiece on the street.

"They can steal drugs that are readily sellable on the street. They're illicit drugs that people want to buy," said Undersheriff Jim Anderson.

Investigators believe the case is related to three other recent pharmacy break-ins in the area.

If you have information about these crimes you are asked to call Crime Stoppers of Lenawee County at 517- 266-6161.
