West Toledo neighborhood wants sinkhole fixed

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents living along Westbrook Drive in west Toledo are complaining about a sinkhole, a portion of the street which is collapsing, and they want action from the city as soon as possible.

Neighbors say back in the fall, city crews put some asphalt in the hole, which helped the situation for a short period of time. That repair job is showing signs of cracks and holes in the pavement, and people who live near it say rats have been found in the area recently, and they blame a broken sewer pipe for all of the problems.

It's a situation they say is an accident waiting to happen.

"We hope to get some results here, get that fixed because there's children on this block and I don't want to see any of those children get hurt," said James Ellis. "I don't want to see any accidents caused by something like that. The city should take care of it."

The city's Public Information Officer says sewer repairs in that area are scheduled in the near future.
