Document indicates 1-year-old child buried in December

Court documents indicate a child whose body was recovered last week from a southwest Ohio woods is believed to have been buried there in December.

The Hillsboro Times-Gazette (http://bit.ly/19F9yoR ) reports that a document filed in Hillsboro Municipal Court gives the "violation date" as Dec. 18, 2012. It was filed in connection with charges against Garin Niehaus' mother and her boyfriend.

Authorities have charged 26-year-old Whitney Johnson and 25-year-old Nathan Ritze of Richmond, Ky., with felony counts of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Police had no attorney information for Johnson and Ritze, who were jailed Monday in Hillsboro pending a Wednesday court appearance.

Police say Johnson told investigators the child had pneumonia, and a coroner said preliminary examination didn't show any obvious physical trauma to his body.
