16-year-old driver hits, kills motorcyclist in Erie County

ERIE COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A motorcyclist was killed Monday night, after colliding with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Erie County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7 p.m. on State Route 101 at Superior Street.

48-year-old Kristina McGraw of Sandusky was driving her Harley Davidson southbound when the driver of a Jeep, 16-year-old Jaime Ruiz of Canton, hit her.

Troopers say Ruiz was making a left turn on to Superior Street and failed to yield the right of way to McGraw's motorcycle.

McGraw was thrown from her Harley during the crash. She was not wearing a helmet at the time.

McGraw was transported by EMS to Fireland's Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m., according to authorities.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation at this time.
