Toledoans get down and dirty for charity

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An upcoming mud volleyball tournament will give Toledoans a chance to get down and dirty for a good cause.

The Toledo Sport & Social Club is hosting a mud volleyball event to raise money for the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.

Founder Jesse Spier said this is the second year for the tournament. Last year 29 teams participated, and the number could nearly double this year.

The games are played at the Lucas County Fairgrounds in six volleyball courts dug out in the mud.

Players have to register with their own team by August 20.

The mud volleyball tournament takes place on August 24.

Jessie Spier talks about what motivated him to start the now annual tournament on ‘Your Morning Saturday.
