Perrysburg Twp. murder suspect sentenced to at least 18 years

Jose Moya Jose Moya
PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Jose Moya took a plea deal Friday for the death of his former girlfriend last summer at a Perrysburg Township home.

Both families gathered in the courtroom as Moya pleaded no contest to a series of charges, including murder, in the death of Leandra Frankum last July.

Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Mayberry sentenced Moya to 18 years to life in prison. Moya will not be able to ask for parole until he has served at least 18 years.

Wood County Victims Assistance director, Monica DeLeon, read a statement written by Frankum's mother, Trina, who said she hoped Moya would burn in hell everyday.

"I will be praying for you, Jose, because you will be the one living in hell for the rest of your life," read DeLeon.

Sharp, powerful, and too painful to be spoken by the brokenhearted mother who wrote them, those were some of the final words Frankum had for her daughter's killer in court Friday.

"Based upon the facts and your plea of no contest, at this time, the court will find you guilty of the offense of murder," said DeLeon.

If he is ever released from prison, Moya will need to pay court costs and fines, plus serve five years probation.
