Former Clay trainer indicted on sexual battery charges

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Former Clay High School Athletic Trainer Melinda Rober has been indicted on two counts of sexual battery by a grand jury.

Police say the indictment comes from accusations made that Rober had sexual relations with two high school students. Once she was arrested, police say they talked to several more former and current students who say they did not have sexual relations with Rober.

Rober's attorney has said in the past that Rober is "incredibly remorseful…She's not a predator…She's not a monster."

Rober was an athletic trainer at Clay for more than 10 years, and the company that employed her says it was not aware of any inappropriate behavior. The school district said as soon as names of students came to light, the case was immediately handed over to the Oregon Police.
