FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The University of Findlay's College of Business has been occupying the oldest building on campus for years, but university officials have announced plans for a brand new building for it to use.

The University of Findlay has not built a new, stand-alone building since 1999. At a press conference Thursday, university officials announced they will be expanding their "Give Voice to Your Values" fundraising campaign to raise money for a brand new College of Business building and Student Life Center.

Fundraising will help improvements and unrestricted scholarship funds by $10 million. The current goal of $40 million will be reached two years ahead of schedule.

"We're very excited about the momentum our donors have provided for us, and we look forward to a great new success in two or three years," said Katherine Fell, president of UF.

The additional $10 million will help fund the construction of a new building that will house the College of Business, along with living areas and dining options. Construction will be on Davis Street, directly across from the recently renovated Davis Science Building.

"It will be a great mix of new buildings on this side of campus," said Fell.

Built in 1884, the College of Business is housed in the oldest building on campus, dubbed "Old Main." With new, modern surroundings, the college will be able to broaden its curriculum and appeal to more prospective students.

"It will also serve as a better vehicle to showcase our programs and it will be more competitive with other business programs in the country," said Paul Sears, dean in the College of Business.

Construction should begin in three or four years. The total cost is estimated at $15 million.
