Rolling Thunder sendoff held at Yellow Ribbon Support Center

EASTGATE, OH (FOX19) -

A sendoff was held Thursday for a local group making their way to Washington D.C. in support of veterans.

In honor of Memorial Day weekend, the Indiana chapter of Rolling Thunder was at the Yellow Ribbon Support Center in Eastgate. Rolling Thunder is a nationwide, non-profit organization that works to bring awareness of ongoing MIA/POW issues.

Supporters of the cause held a sendoff as the group heads for Capitol Hill, as part of the Ride for Freedom event.

The Yellow Ribbon Support Center is also a non-profit that sends packages to troops serving overseas.

Rolling Thunder members say they plan to demonstrate against the government's handling of POW/MIA issues and veterans' rights.

More than 800,000 bikers from chapter organizations across the country are expected to participate this Memorial Day weekend.
