Monroe triplets graduating in top ten of class

MONROE, MI (Toledo News Now) -

For one Monroe family, this graduation season brings a lot to be proud of.

Ian, Jillyan and Tayler Misiak are triplets. They are all graduating high school next week, and all three will graduate summa cum laude, ranked in the top ten of their class.

"They're very committed," said their mother Beth. "When they say they're going to do something, they follow through with it all the way…[When they told me,] honestly, for a couple of days, I had some tears. I cried, I was so excited for them."

And they didn't only concentrate on academics. Ian swims, Jillyan sings, and Taylor draws. They are all involved in after school activities and clubs, but they knew to put academics first.

"It was rough," Jillyan said. "I mean, it took a lot of commitment. I studied a lot and just spent a lot of time on my schoolwork…but it was rewarding."

Ian and Taylor will both be attending Anderson University in Indiana in the fall, majoring in business and marketing, and athletic training. Jillyan will head to Cedarville University in Ohio to ear her degree in social work.

"I honestly cannot wait," Taylor said. "But in the end, I feel like it's going to be bittersweet, because, I mean, I'm going to miss all my friends and family and stuff, but I'm so ready to start a new chapter in my life."

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round. They will play the winner of the Fort Wayne and ...
