Construction on Secor ahead of schedule

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Work continues on the latest construction project in Toledo: Secor Road.

Traffic is still flowing through the construction zone, even as crews are re-paving Secor from Central to I-475.

Toledo City Councilman Tom Waniewski says they are ahead of schedule on the project. The end date is November 1, but he believes the contractor will meet the incentives provided if they finish before then.

Right now, crews are working on the southbound lanes, but they are maintaining at least one lane in both directions, plus a turning lane, which is crucial for the businesses there.

"I don't have any hard stats, but are fewer people driving down there? Possibly," Waniewski said. "Does that affect businesses? I'm sure it has. I have not received complaints from the businesses on that, but this ombudsman is the go-between."

The ombudsman, Steve Hamilton, was hired by the city to help businesses get through the project.

The east and westbound on and off ramps from Secor to I-475 will be closed for 10 days starting June 4.
