Sylvania PD gets new wheels

SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

New top-of-the-line police patrol cars have arrived in Sylvania.

The city is putting five new marked vehicles into service: three new Ford Interceptor sedans, and two new Ford Interceptor SUVs.

The vehicles were ordered last fall and are now being delivered. The first two hit streets Thursday. The total cost for the five vehicles, including equipment, is just over $180,000.

Sergeant Danilynn Miller has helped get the cars on the road, and also helped design a new graphics detail package for them.

"The hardest part about police cars is finding something that's going to be comfortable for our officers," Miller said. "It is their office for eight hours a day, so we want to make sure it's set up for their comfort and that they can do their job to the best of their ability in their vehicle."

Four more sedans will be ordered next fall to complete the replacement of the 2009 Crown Victoria police vehicles.
