(Toledo News Now) -

There is more good news than bad news in this week's Restaurant Ratings Report.

The Oasis on Laskey Road in west Toledo is celebrating after the Lucas County Health Department recognized it for being one of the top 50 locations in the area for maintaining a clean and safe environment for both employees and customers.

Two other restaurants made the health department's good side.

El Vaquero along Main Street in east Toledo, is marking yet another violation-free inspection. Hand sinks are stocked and ready. Gloves are being worn when preparing food. Plus during the visit, inspectors noted the facility being very clean and well-maintained.

If you're eager to kick off the fast-approaching summer season with a sweet treat, Mel-O-Creme awaits. Located in Holland on Airport Highway, its standard safety inspection resulted without a single violation. Inspectors called it clean and organized.

On the other hand, many restaurants are working to remedy multiple violations.

Fricker's on Monroe Street in Sylvania had just minor issues, but many. Inspectors found a total of 15 violations including a lack of date labels, cracked food containers, ice build-up, food trays needing to be cleaned, a broken nacho cheese unit, holes in the wall, and chicken holding above the recommended level in a cooler.

Biggby Coffee on Sylvania Avenue by the Franklin Park Mall in west Toledo is all a buzz. Flies were found in the facility during its inspection. Management was told to contact a pest control operator and make sure all floor drains and covers are clean and free of debris.

Grumpy's Deli downtown on Huron Street is facing four violations. A bag of carrots were found sitting directly on top of packages of raw beef, but has since been corrected. An inspector also noticed a dishwasher employee handling both dirty and clean items without stopping to wash hands in between tasks. Gloves need to be worn to prevent contamination.

Facebook posts from more than a year ago caused controversy at a west Toledo business Tuesday night. While a community group won't stand for the derogatory comments made, the business owners feel the group's outrage has crossed the line.  The posts from Twin Oak Lanes owner Jeff Kuhnle that were made in 2016 and 2017 are now haunting him. The posts use derogatory and racially insensitive comments about Muslims.  "First of all as a Muslim woman living in America ...

The good news is, there are ways in which our changing culture is evolving to deal with technology and how it can both hel...
