TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Toledo teen who admitted to bringing a gun into Raymer Elementary School in March was sentenced to a youth treatment center Friday.
The judge sentenced the 15-year-old boy to the center instead of sending him to jail. If sent to jail, he could have been incarcerated until he was 21.
There is no set timeframe for his stay; he will be released from the youth treatment center once he has cleared an evaluation process.
Police say a school employee found the .38 handgun in the pocket of a student's jacket while looking for a missing coat March 22. According to police, the student admitted to buying the gun from someone on the street, but never showed anyone the gun or made threats.
The teen has been suspended from school.
