NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An organization that helps thousandsof people in need is asking for the community's support as they work to stocktheir shelves.

The Together We Can Make aDifference Initiative is gathering personal hygiene items, like shampoo andtoothpaste. They run completely off donations, and could use some help.

Families in need can come bythe office in Napoleon every two weeks to pick up basic items. Organizers saythe service is extremely beneficial to people in the community because, forsome, it's the only place they can go for personal care items.

"They come in and they neverthought they'd be in this situation," said Executive Director Kelli Burkhardt. "Wekeep telling them, ‘It's okay.' The economy is getting better and jobs arecoming and we just want people to be ready for that time."

The organization also helpspeople get their GEDs.
