(Toledo News Now) -

Sometimes dinner really does have to wait. One local restaurant learned that this week when it was forced to close for a short period of time.

Home Slice Pizza on South St. Clair Street in downtown Toledo racked up seven violations. On April 26, inspectors found no hand soap at the kitchen sink or in a restroom. The health department ordered it to temporarily close until hand soap was readily available for both employees and customers. After a quick run to the store to buy soap, the restaurant was back up and running. Other violations included uncovered bread in a cooler, food and supplies stored in an unfinished area in the basement, expired turkey, plus unprotected plates and forks stocked at every table.

The Subway on Monroe Street in west Toledo received four violations from inspectors. Since gnats were found flying by the mop sink in the kitchen, management has been asked to contact pest control for help. However, inspectors say it found great handwashing and date labeling practices.

Central Hot Dog on Front Street in east Toledo earned four violations. Lids on the trash dumpster need to be closed, especially when there's heavy debris and grease inside. There's also a lot cleaning needed to remove build-up along the cook line.

Nori Japan at the Westfield Franklin Park Mall in west Toledo has seven violations from its April 19 inspection. Raw beef was found thawing at room temperature, plus the floors, walls and ceilings need to be cleaned.

If you'd like to cool down after a long day, Freeze Daddy's on Monclova Road in Monclova is eager to help, along with the McDonald's on Dutch Road in Waterville. No violations were found during their latest visits.

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
