Woman and child badly injured in ATV crash

SANDUSKY COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two people were seriously injured Sunday night in an ATV crash outside of Fremont. Both had to be taken by life-flight to an area hospital.

According to the Fremont Post of the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near CR 177, about half a mile east of SR 101 in Green Creek Township.

Authorities say 28-year-old Kristi M. Ely, of Green Springs, was driving with one passenger onboard, 7-year-old Allison Gerhardstein, of Bellevue.

Ely lost control of the ATV when it overturned in a field.

Neither Ely nor Gerhardstein was wearing a helmet. Both suffered serious injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation. Authorities have not given an update on either Ely or Gerhardstein's condition.
