1 dead in Lake Twp. accident

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person has died in an accident on Woodville Road in Lake Township.

LAKE TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person has died in an accident on Woodville Road in Lake Township.

Woodville Road (SR51) was closed near Owen Road because of the accident, which happened around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Evelyn Moore, 81, of Oregon, was driving a Kia Rio. She was pulling out of a private drive and failed to yield to David Baker, 71, of Genoa and driving a Lincoln Town Car. Baker was headed eastbound on SR51, and his vehicle struck Moore's on the driver side.

Moore sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Baker sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital

Also traveling in Baker's vehicle were Damion Tall, 38, of Toledo, Sara Elswick, 21, of Sandusky, and Michelle Nickless, 47, of Port Clinton. None of them were injured.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.

OSHP was assisted at the scene by the Lake Township Police Department and Lake Township Fire and EMS.
