Ottawa County Sheriff’s Dept. investigating two attempted abductions in Allen Twp. Monday night

ALLEN TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department says they believe the same man is responsible for two separate attempted abductions in Allen Township Monday night.

The Sheriff's Office says a man first attempted to abduct a 9-year-old girl while she was riding her bike on Reiman Road. The suspect approached the girl and opened the trunk of his vehicle. The girl's mother spotted the driver and started running toward the scene. The man fled.

"It's not a fun thing," said Jim Posey, a resident in the area. "It's just kind of sickening that you would steal a little girl or little boy...and it's not right to take advantage of innocent people."

The second incident occurred on Front Street, where police say a man with a similar description approached four girls, ages 12-16. According to police, the man demanded the girls get in the car, but they ran away.

The suspect is described as thin, in his 60's or 70's with gray hair and a scruffy beard.

The Sheriff's Office says they are increasing patrols in the area of the attempted abductions, and will continue the extra patrols for the foreseeable future.
