TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Toledo City Councilman is calling for a gun buyback.
Democratic mayoral candidate Joe McNamara is holding a press conference Monday at 2pm on the rising crime rate in the city.
He's calling for Mayor Bell to institute a gun buyback program and is also expressing disappointment in Congress for failing to pass universal background checks.
"No one proposal or program is the solution to all of our problems, but we can't afford to do nothing. If this saves even one life it will be well worth it," said McNamara.
The press conference is scheduled for Monday afternoon in front of the public safety building.
