TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Thousands of events across the country have been held in support of the Boston Marathon bombing victims. It's no different here in northwest Ohio.

In an attempt to show solidarity and to pay their respects, local runners took to the streets Thursday night.

The Second Sole Running Shop at Levis Commons hosts a Thursday night running club every week. This week, runners and walkers gathered for one cause: to be Boston strong.

T-shirts were sold to raise money for the One Fund Boston charity, which helps those affected by the tragedy.

Several local runners who ran in Boston were present Thursday night, as well.

"Shortly after the bombings, somebody asked me if this would have an effect on my willingness to come back to the Boston Marathon, or continue to do marathons," said Rob Slater. "I said, ‘Well, if anything, it makes me want to do more. It's a kind of bonding experience.'"

Many of the runners participating Thursday night will also be running the Glass City Marathon on Sunday.
